Valerie Heine – Director / Writer / Line Producer

Valerie Heine was born in Berlin in 1985. She studied philosophy and art history at the FU-Berlin before shifting her focus to filmmaking after attending the SF Art & Film workshop and Method acting courses at the Actors Center of San Francisco. She received a scholarship from the Berkeley Film Institute in 2008. Returning to Germany, Valerie graduated from Academy of Media Arts Cologne with Masters degree (Diplom). During her film studies “El carro azul” was realized as part of an exchange program with the International Film School San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba. Valerie Heine is currently working on her first feature -length movie. She is the founder of Pluma Film along with Ziya Aktas.

 

Ziya Aktas – Producer / Public Relations

Ziya Aktas (October, 1977) was born & raised in the rural town of Karaman, Turkey.  At the age of 11, he left home to attend Ankara Gazi High School and later on, moved to Istanbul for his engineering studies at Y.T.U. College.  His experiences & new friend circle in Istanbul formed the basis for his interest in art & new media, which led him to move to Berkeley/USA to further his studies of art.  Here, he freelanced for many graphic design, new media, web, mobile & management projects.  After meeting and falling under the influence of Valerie Heine, Ziya decided to pursue film production and eventually relocated to Germany to form Pluma Film together with her.
